Dracula, owner of Hotel Transylvania, invites some of the world's most famous monsters, such as Frankenstein, Wayne and Wanda Werewolf, Murray the Mummy, Griffin the Invisible Man, and Bigfoot, to celebrate the 118th birthday of his daughter, Mavis. However, on the night of the party, a human backpacker named Jonathan Loughran stumbles upon the hotel. Dracula initially tries to hide Jonathan from the other guests, but he eventually falls in love with Mavis.
Jonathan's presence at the hotel forces Dracula to confront his own prejudices against humans. He also learns to let go of his overprotective nature and allow Mavis to make her own choices. In the end, Jonathan and Mavis decide to stay together, and Dracula welcomes Jonathan into the monster family.
